Home Easy Hikes Centennial Cone Summit
Centennial Cone Summit Print

This fairly easy hike ascends to the summit of Centennial Cone Park's namesake. The only thing that lends it any difficulty is the fact that part of it is off trail, and it's pretty steep in places.Centenial Cone Area

There is a summit register there, as well as some excellent views for a foothills location.

There are several routes in the download for this trip. CentConeAprch is the easy one. If you just want a quick easy trip, just follow that track back down also. For a tougher challenge, bushwhack your way around the mountainside, roughly following the CentConReturn track, until you come to the Old Road, and go up it a short distance to find the old site of a Pegmatite Mine.

Also, if you are a mountain biker, the loop trail that goes around the park is really nice. It's 11.6 miles around, mostly single track, and there is A LOT of up and down. It traverses some fairly narrow ledges in places, with freaky dropoffs that provide great views. There are usually trail maps at the two parking areas. Most of the mountain bike route is on the Travios Trail, except for the section in between the two parking lots.
